RMC, GUNUPUR :
RMC Gunupur has been the cynosure of
the district since its inception. It has always safeguarded the very interest
of the poor and downtrodden farmers.
With the sincere effort of the members of the
staff it endeavors to reach at the pinnacle of success. A lovely looking Market
Yard has been set up here for the convenience of the farmers and entrepreneurs.
Cotton
Cultivation: (During September to March)
In Gunupur Sub-Division large tracks
of land come under cotton cultivation. The quality of cotton grown in this area
is of high standard.
Tribal Market:
Chatikona Tribal Market, 70 kms away
from Gunupur, is held every week on Wednesday. It is a trade center for “Dangaria
Kandhs” who come down from the Niamagiri
Hills in large number for purchasing trinkets and cloths in exchange of hill
produce which include Orange, Banana, Pineapple, Jackfruit, Tamarind and
Turmeric.
Jaltar
Tribal Market, 10 kms away from Gunupur, is held every week on Wednesday. It is
the trading center for “Langia Soura Tribal”.
CATTLE MARKET :
Bhamini Cattle Market, 12 kms away
from Gunupur is held every week on Saturday. It is a trading center for cattle. Hata
Muniguda Market is 75 kms away from Gunupur and is held every week on Thursday.
It is
a trading center for cattle. Large numbers of traders come here for purchasing
and selling of cattle.
MARKET POTENTIALITY IN GUNUPUR :
Besides
being the main trading center for cotton and paddy of good quality. Gunupur
also offers good market opportunities in the sale and purchase of green vegetables,
cashew, turmeric, tamarind, pulses, green gram, black gram, teal, Niger,
groundnut and other agricultural and forest produce.

Road: Gunupur is well connected by an excellent all weather road which branches off from the NH-5 on the out skirts of Palasa (90 Kms.). Regular Bus Services are available directly to Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Jeypore, Sundbeda, Rayagada, Bhawanipatna, etc. in Orissa and to Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram, Srikaulam, Palasa in Andhra Pradesh.
