About RMC Gunupur

REGULATED MARKET COMMITTEE

       A Regulated Market committee (RMC) is a democratically elected body consisting of elected members from different constituencies such as farmers, traders, farmer’s cooperatives, local urban bodies etc. Generally the concerned sub-collector or collector, under whose jurisdiction an RMC falls, is nominated as the chairman of the RMC.

A Regulated Market aims at realisation of three major objectives, such as:
  • Ensuring correct weighment for the produces of the farmers, so that he is not cheated by the middlemen/wholesalers/semi-wholesalers etc.
  • Ensuring prompt payment to the farmers for his produce immediately his produces are sold.
  • Avoidance of exploitation in the hands of middlemen.

Activities
  • Enforcement of the Orissa Agriculture Produce Market Act 1961.
  • Provision of Market Facilities.
  • Promotion of awareness among farmers through Information, Education and Communication about better agricultural marketing.
  • Ensuring minimum support price to farmers for their produce.
  • Enhancement of economic standard of farmers.
  • Promotion of cultural harmony among people.
  • Provision of better opportunities for social construction.
Commitments
  • To provide all possible marketing assistance to the farmers of Gunupur Sub-Division of Orissa and users to ensure that producers, sellers and purchasers have faith in fairness and transparency in the functioning of the Market Committee.
  • To make RMC, Gunupur an example of glocalisation, by integrating the local resources and global technologies.
  • Always opened it's door for any interested farmers/ agricultural institution to have an intellectual exercise and exchange of ideas.

  • Organisation of farmer's awareness camps and training programmes.
  • Organisation of farmer's study tour.
  • Strengthening of Gunupur Regulated Market Committee.
  • Organisation of seminars & workshops to accelerate innovative skills among the farmers.
  • Promotion of Agro Processing Industries to establish forward linkage.
  • Establishment of "Amar Baazar" at Block Head Quarters.
